Kerala Court Sentences Associate Editor, Staff Reporter Of Mangalam Publication To Imprisonment In Defamation Case By Former Chief Secy
Live LawThe Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ernakulam found R. Ajithkumar, Associate Editor of Mangalam Publication and K. K. Sunil Staff Reporter guilty of defamation under Section 500 of IPC in a defamation case filed by former Kerala State Chief Secretary Tom Jose IAS. The Court sentenced both of them to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 4 months. Mangalam publications is found to be guilty for defamation under Section 500 of IPC and sale of printed material containing defamatory material under Section 502 of IPC. If the company declines to pay the fine, the Editor and Publisher of the publication would have to undergo 3 months of simple imprisonment for each of these offences.
