India successfully test-fires naval anti-ship missile
The HinduAn indigenously developed Naval Anti-Ship Missile was successfully test-fired for the first time from a naval helicopter from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off Odisha coast on May 18. It is the first indigenous air-launched anti-ship missile system for the Indian Navy, Defence Research and Development Organisation said in a statement. “The missile followed the desired sea skimming trajectory and reached the designated target with high degree of accuracy, validating the control, guidance and mission algorithms,” DRDO said. The missile employed many new technologies, including an indigenously developed launcher for the helicopter, and the missile guidance system includes a state-of-the-art navigation system and integrated avionics, according to DRDO.
