Collectors told to ensure strict compliance of guidelines issued for online applications

The Hindu

Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed all Collectors to inform revenue officials about guidelines prescribed while dealing with online applications and ensure the strict compliance of the same. The State submitted that on the website, the final status alone would be made available and if the aggrieved party approached the authority concerned, then a detailed order would be furnished and it was open to the aggrieved party to challenge the same. Justice P. B. Balaji observed that despite the detailed guidelines issued by the court, the authorities continued to follow the earlier practice of rejecting the request without even affording an opportunity. After hearing the petitioner and giving sufficient opportunity to furnish all documents, the Tahsildar shall pass final orders in eight weeks, the court directed and made it clear that in future, whenever online applications were made, the authorities were bound to strictly adhere to the guidelines.
