Police investigate death of nine-year-old girl struck by car in Werribee
ABCA nine-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car at Werribee in Melbourne's south-west. Victoria Police said the girl was hit by a vehicle on Shaws Road shortly after 9pm last night. Detective Sergeant Peter Romanis from the Major Collision Investigation Unit said it was not clear why the child was near the road. "Police are still investigating the exact cause of the collision and the circumstances that led to the child being on or near the road and we are appealing for any witnesses who can assist us in piecing this tragedy together," he said. "It's a very confronting scene, particularly given the age and vulnerability of the child," he said "It takes a tremendous amount of courage for those witnesses to stop and do what they did and our thanks and our hearts go out to them as well who no doubt will be suffering as well."
