KTR cites reports calling Telangana tunnel 'red zone', slams government inaction
India TodayBharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao accused the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, of ignoring multiple warnings about the risks associated with the SLBC tunnel. KTR claimed that two expert reports had classified the tunnel site as a “red zone” due to dangerous geological conditions. According to KTR, a Tunnel Seismic Prediction survey conducted in 2022 by Jaiprakash Associates Limited, in collaboration with Swiss firm Amberg Tech AG, had explicitly warned of a fault zone between 13.88 km and 13.91 km of the tunnel. Further, KTR cited another geological survey conducted in 2022 by former Geological Survey of India Director General Mandapalli Raju and geologist Rituraj Deshmukh, which had also raised safety concerns.
