On the night of November 2, Peng sent out a message on Sina Weibo, the Twitter-like social media site used in China, saying she had been sexually assaulted by Zhang Gaoli. In a statement issued in response to the videos, WTA chairman Steve Simon said he was “glad to see the videos released by China state-run media that appear to show Peng Shuai at a restaurant in Beijing” but remained concerned about Peng.
