Oilers hope well-earned victory over Kraken turns the tables after terrible start

SEATTLE — Earlier in the week, Zach Hyman stressed that keeping goals short was a must. “If you look at any analytics, they’ll tell you where most of the goals are scored,” Hyman said. “Especially when things aren’t as smooth as we’d like them to be in order to be an offensive team when you’re not getting the offence, you’ve got to go back to what works.” The Oilers put forth a banner effort and were full marks for their victory. “From a team perspective, just getting ahead, scoring first and being able to build a lead — when things aren’t going well, you want to have a cushion and it makes everybody feel a little bit more comfortable,” Hyman said. “It’s been remarkably hard to score a goal,” defenceman Mattias Ekholm said.
