Chhattisgarh's 'Niyad Nellanar' scheme boosts development in vulnerable areas
India TodayChhattisgarh government's ambitious ‘Niyad Nellanar’ scheme, to provide basic amenities and benefits for welfare projects to Naxal-affected villages, has started changing the lives of the people in the state. The scheme, launched by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai earlier this year, has led to increased government presence in the villages, with officials making frequent visits, thereby boosting the confidence of residents and encouraging them to voice their needs openly. The cornerstone of the Niyad Nellanar scheme is the deployment of solar energy solutions, spearheaded by the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency under the Energy Ministry. Speaking to the media on the scheme, CREDA CEO Rajesh Rana said,"500 new solar installations have been proposed by the govt and in record time, we have installed 100 solar plants of drinking water units to implement Jal Jeevan Mission, solar high mast light and Saur Sujala Yojna irrigation pumps for farmers.
