More Bids for Chip Fabs Expected but Current Focus on ‘Execution’ of Semiconductor India Programme: IT Minister Vaishnaw

With the Internet of Things and 5G becoming trending technologies in India, demand for semiconductor chips is estimated to increase over $100 billion by 2025. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told CNBCTV18 that in the second round of the Semicon India Programme, more proposals for setting up semiconductor chip production facilities are expected.
