Marjorie Taylor Greene’s House speaker move, Donald Trump’s legal bills, Marco Rubio for vice president: The biggest political stories of the week.
SlateThe House successfully passed the second and final tranche of government funding for the remainder of the fiscal year on Friday—and this was the bigger, more challenging tranche, covering everything from border security to health programs to defense spending. Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, in particular, went so far as to file a resolution to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, raising the prospect of a third speaker’s race in this Congress. “It’s more of a warning than a pink slip,” Greene told reporters after House votes Friday. The vast, vast majority of Greene’s GOP conference, including the guy who led the last speaker’s ouster, have no interest in going through another speaker’s race.
