Can't lose another mosque: Owaisi on Gyanvapi verdict
India TodayAll India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi said the Gyanvapi mosque complex verdict violated the Places of Worship Act, 1991. He said that the Act declares that the religious character of a place of worship existing on August 15, 1947, shall continue to be the same as it existed on that date, adding that he can’t lose another mosque. Owaisi said the act says that no person shall convert any place of worship of any religious denomination or any section thereof into a place of worship of a different section of the same religious denomination or of a different religious denomination or any section thereof. The AIMIM chief said this after a Varanasi court on Thursday said the survey inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex near the Kashi Vishwanath temple will continue and the report had to be submitted by May 17.
