Will strive to simplify rules for staging of Yakshagana, says Karkala MLA
Karkala MLA V. Sunil Kumar has assured to make every effort at the government level to streamline permission to stage Yakshagana shows during nights and bring in simplified rules. He was speaking after presenting the Kundeshwar Samman Award, instituted by Sri Kshetra Kundeshwara on Yakshagana comedy artist Arun Kumar Jarkala at Hirgana village in Karkala taluk recently. Yakshagana artist and advocate Shreeramanachar said the Kundeshwara award has a special recognition in the field as it was instituted in memory of Late Raghavendra Bhat, who led a pious life in Yakshagana and religion. Stating that rules obstruct staging of Yakshagana beyond 10 p.m., Mr. Shreeramanachar sought relaxing the rules that come in the way of traditional and historic practices.
