In a first, Council to meet minus Assembly

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has for the first time in the history of the country has decided to hold a Legislative Council session when there is no Legislative Assembly. Governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday issued the notification summoning the Telangana Legislative Council to meet for its 10th session at 11 am on September 2. The Telangana Legislative Assembly has to meet before September 28, as its last sitting was on March 29, 2018. Telangana Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud told this newspaper that he is acting according to the Constitution, which says that legislative bodies have to meet once every six months.
