Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant on Monday said that the Criminal Investigation Department had been given the charge of investigating the death of a pregnant woman due to the alleged administration of expired saline. A 21-year-old pregnant woman died, and three others were left in a critical condition after the administration of expired saline at a government hospital in West Bengal’s Midnapore. Calling it “an unfortunate incident”, Manoj Pant said, “There is a serious negligence on the part of the unit that was present there. The Bengal Chief Secretary informed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with health department officers.
