BBC viewers are all saying the same thing about the Lord Lucan investigation- that is was 'a waste of time' Yesterday, a three-part documentary on the gruesome murder, titled Lucan, aired On BBC Two on the 50th anniversary of Rivett's death, her son Neil Berriman was compelled to find answers after learning who his real mother was, following the death of his adoptive mother One person said: 'The BBC asks the question why does the Lord Lucan story hold so much power today? BBC cameras followed Neil as he tracked down the man he believed to be the missing aristocrat, now living in Australia Neil accused 'Old Etonian' Christopher Bell, 87, of being Lucan and of having killed his mother in 1974, before going on the run for decades 1963: John Richard Bingham, Earl of Lucan, and Veronica Duncan pictured after their marriage On the same evening, the young children's nanny, Sandra Rivett, was found dead in the familial home.
