Regulation of child contact centres called into question as staffer alleges concerns about possible child abuse were ignored

"I woke up today and was happy because it was the day I was seeing Mummy… I want to live with you Mummy." Joan was shocked when her manager informed her that the child's lawyer wasn't interested in her abuse concerns and didn't want them filed in a report because, according to the manager, " did not want to give the mother any material which would allow her to go back into court." There are 80 government funded child contact centres that must adhere to a "Guiding Principles Framework" set out by the Attorney General's department. A child psychologist, who interviewed the family and wrote three reports for the court, said Sally "could be described as regressed and depressed in the mother's care". Sally's father moved to further limit contact alleging Wendy was "an unacceptable risk of harm to emotional and psychological health, development and welfare".
