Plea to allow differently abled candidates to choose scribes for TNPSC exam
A public interest litigation petition has been filed in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking a direction to Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission to allow differently abled candidates to choose their scribes. The petitioner, B. Velmurugan of Madurai, a differently abled person, said the TNPSC was not allowing visually impaired candidates to choose their scribes. However, the TNPSC was not allowing the differently abled candidates to bring their scribes as per the guidelines. The UPSC was providing a magnifier, braille watch and mathematics board on the basis of request in the application at the time of writing examination, but the TNPSC was not providing such facilities which were important for the visually impaired, he said, adding the authorities should allot examination centres closer to the residence of the differently abled candidates.
