Sunshine Coast property Avatar's Abode and its Meher Baba links staunchly protected
ABCThe safekeepers of a 40-hectare spiritual and ecological sanctuary, potentially worth $20 million and overlooking a coastal CBD, are confident they will preserve the site for centuries, despite sky-rocketing land values. "The land has been sewn up by Avatar's Abode Trust as much as possible so it can never be sold, provided rates are paid," 81-year-old Mr Bruford says. Long-term Avatar's Abode resident Bernard Bruford met Meher Baba twice in his youth. Ms Young says Avatar's Abode "has a plan for 700 years in anticipation", and some materials used in renovating Baba's bedroom have been selected with that timeline in mind. Artistic and Indigenous links Council notes Baba's close relationship with modernist poet Francis Brabazon, buried at Avatar's Abode, and links to other Australian artists of the mid-1900s, including Sidney Nolan.
