Premium home boost to India's housing market, overall sales at 9-year high

Housing sales, prices rise hand-in-hand Mumbai and Bengaluru are among the top five best-performing Asia-Pacific residential markets in terms of annual price growth in the second half of 2022. While housing prices in Mumbai and Bengaluru rose by 7 per cent annually, housing prices in Delhi surged by 6.8 per cent in the second half of 2022, according to Knight Frank’s Asia-Pacific Residential Review Index. 2.46 lakh units were sold in the pre-pandemic year 2019, which rose to 3.13 lakh in 2022 in the top eight cities, shows the Knight Frank research data. The share of housing units priced in excess of Rs 1.5 crore rose from 11 per cent in 2019 to 17 per cent in 2022, data shows.
