Arunachal's Dirang valley near China border celebrates 76th Independence Day
India TodayThe picturesque small town of West Kameng district, Dirang, situated at 4,900 feet above sea level near the China border, celebrated its 76th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and joy. Participants from various schools in Dirang and interior villages, including Indo-Tibetan Border Police troops took part in the March pass parade at Lopon stadium today. "As we are celebrating 76 years of independence today, we should also realise how and by whom we got this peace,progress and freedom.Today, we should remember the sacrifices of great freedom fighters who gave us this freedom by shedding their blood & giving up their lives," Phurpa Tsering said in his speech. "Youths of the state are also getting benefits from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya swalamban Yojana and 526 youths got financial help from this scheme," he added.
