86 out 90 MLA-elects in Haryana are crorepatis; 12 legislators face criminal cases: ADR data
New Indian ExpressNEW DELHI: In the newly-elected 90-member Haryana Assembly, 86 MLAs are crorepatis, while 12 have criminal cases against them, according to an analysis by poll rights body ADR. Of the 90 MLAs, 44 percent possess assets worth over Rs 10 crore, while only 2.2 percent have assets below Rs 20 lakh, the data showed. Party-wise, 96 per cent BJP legislators, 95 per cent Congress MLAs, and 100 per cent of both INLD and Independent winners have declared assets exceeding Rs 1 crore. A total of 30 MLAs have been re-elected in 2024, whose average assets grew by 59 percent since 2019, from Rs 9.08 crore to Rs 14.46 crore now, marking significant financial gains over the past five years. The analysis also showed that 28 winning candidates have declared liabilities of Rs 1 crore or more, with Congress' Rajbir Fartia from Loharu topping the chart at Rs 44 crore.
