4WD drivers warned over Noosa and K'Gari beach driving after 11 rescues
ABCEvery weekend, thousands of drivers from across Queensland flock to beaches north of Noosa and along K'Gari to enjoy the sights. Key points: Tow trucks have pulled 11 four-wheel-drives from notorious beach-driving areas north of Noosa and on Fraser Island Authorities are warning visitors to plan trips and monitor tides before driving on the beach Recent weather events mean there is less sand on the beach, making it more perilous for drivers. Mike Clayton from Clayton's Towing said despite the potential for drivers to end up on the so-called "wall of shame" online, not to mention the financial cost, drivers were still not heeding the warnings. "It's not so much people that were hooning or aiming to do something silly … what's happening is they're travelling and not getting the tides quite right and travelling high up the beach. "And the beach can change between every tide, so one time they can travel up, and you know it's great, and they come back after the next tide, and it totally changes.
