
Illegal arms racketeer carrying huge cache of weapons arrested in Kolkata
India TodayThe Kolkata Police's Special Task Force on Monday arrested an illegal firearms racketeer at Sealdah railway station after recovering a large quantity of firearms and live ammunition from his bag during a search operation. The accused, identified as Hassan Sk from West Bengal's Malda, purchased firearms from Bihar's Khagaria district and then brought them to Mansi by road, a police source told India Today TV. Two improvised single-shot firearms, four improvised 7mm semi-automatic pistols fitted with dual magazines, two live 8mm cartridges, six live 7.65mm cartridges, and other items were found from the man's bag during the search, the STF said. Preliminary interrogation suggested that the accused procured the firearms and live ammunition from Bihar's Khagaria in Bihar, an STF source said, adding that efforts were on to identify the intended recipient.
