EPFO members may soon approve their own PF withdrawals: Report

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation is planning to introduce a “self-approval” mechanism for subscribers to withdraw their provident fund money through an automated process. As part of this upgrade, subscribers will soon be able to intimate the EPFO directly about their withdrawal amount, instead of going through the existing manual checks by EPF officers. Sources also revealed that a digital wallet linked to EPFO may be introduced, which could hold the processed claim amount. If the new system leads to temporary liquidity issues, EPFO may avail cash-credit facilities from commercial banks to manage funds.
