Vizag Celebrates Navy Day Marking Victory in 1971 War

Visakhapatnam: Eastern Naval Command commemorated Navy Day 2024 with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Victory at Sea War Memorial in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. Flag Officer Submarines Rear Admiral Chetan Chandegave led the ceremony, which several dignitaries joined, including district collector M.N. Navy Day is celebrated annually on December 4 to mark the anniversary of Indian Navy's significant achievements during the 1971 War, particularly highlighting Operation Trident, which involved a successful attack on Pakistan’s naval base in Karachi. At the main Navy Day celebration in Puri, Odisha, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi welcomed President Draupadi Murmu, the chief guest.
