2,000 delegates to turn up for global meeting
Against an initial estimate of 1,500 delegates, the Metropolis World Congress 2014 scheduled to be held in the city from Oct. 7 to 10, 2014, is now expected to be attended by around 2,000 delegates, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Somesh Kumar said here on Monday. Speaking to presspersons after the weekly ‘Prajavani’ programme, the Commissioner said the civic body has started to make arrangements for the prestigious event which would have participation of delegates from across the globe. During his recent visit to Barcelona, the issues of agenda for the event and other details were discussed, he said adding that the Secretary General of Metropolis, Allex Saux, along with high power delegation would be visiting the city towards January-end to finalise various modalities and review the arrangements. Asked about the issue of places of worship causing obstruction to traffic and pedestrians, Additional Commissioner D. Ronald Rose said a high-powered committee was constituted by the government for a State-wide policy on the issue.
