Andrew 'Twiggy' Forrest's charities weighed down by Fortescue's falling share price

Millions of dollars have been wiped off the value of charities associated with iron ore magnate Andrew Forrest as their value plummets in tandem with the declining value of his iron ore company. The charity is shackled to the fortunes of Mr Forrest's iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group with some 40 per cent of the charity's investments in the form of shares in the company. Forrest's charity criticised for simplifying difficult problem Mr Forrest is one of Australia's most generous philanthropists, with charities set up to combat Indigenous disadvantage and human trafficking. Dr Anne Gallagher says Forrest's Walk Free charity offers solutions that are too simplistic in the pursuit of ending slavery. Human trafficking expert Dr Anne Gallagher, who has consulted to the United Nations, believes Walk Free's emphasis on shaming governments, mobilising consumers and punishing offenders offers simplistic solutions to deep-seated problems.
