Greater Chennai Corporation begins work to identify land for public e-vehicle charging stations

The city is set to get public e-vehicle charging stations in all its zones. We intend to set up an adequate number of public e-vehicle charging stations in all parts of the city, including north Chennai. GCC councillor Fatima Muzaffer said residents had demanded public e-vehicle charging stations in areas such as Egmore and Pudupet. Jayaraman, a resident of T. Nagar, said the GCC should establish the public e-vehicle charging stations without encroaching upon spaces meant for parks and without affecting the greenery. GCC Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran said the civic body would work with the TNGEC to identify land for establishing the public e-vehicle charging stations in all the zones based on public consultations with the residents.
