
DRDO hands over P-7 parachute system for Indian Army's rapid deployment
India TodayThe Authority Holding Sealed Particulars for the P-7 Parachute System has been formally handed over to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance by the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment, Agra, a leading laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The P-7 Parachute System, designed and developed by the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment, is engineered to facilitate rapid and safe delivery of heavy payloads, supporting operational needs of the Indian Armed Forces. Gliders India Limited, based in Kanpur, has manufactured this advanced parachute system, which boasts the capacity to airdrop loads of up to 9.5 tons from IL-76 aircraft at altitudes reaching four kilometres. Primarily, the P-7 system empowers the Indian Army to swiftly deploy critical equipment, such as Light Field Guns and Jeeps, directly into border and high-conflict zones, enhancing their mobility and operational readiness.
