Phillip Hughes's batting partner, Tom Cooper, remembers his final moments at SCG 10 years ago

ABC

Tom Cooper has recounted the horrifying moment friend and teammate Phillip Hughes was fatally hit by a cricket ball 10 years ago. Lehmann's emotional tribute to Hughes Photo shows Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann, in a blue shirt, claps to honour remembrance of Phil Hughes on screen at Adelaide Oval. Cooper said players from both sides were immediately concerned by a cut on Hughes's cheek from falling on the grill of his helmet, before it became clear something much worse was happening. Two days later Hughes died, aged 25, on November 27, 2014. Cooper, who lived with Hughes when he moved from NSW to the Redbacks, was a pall-bearer at Hughes's funeral.
