Congress delegation submits memorandum to DGP seeking action against Inspector
A delegation of Congress leaders led by former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Thursday met Director General of Police Shalini Singh and submitted a memorandum to her demanding action against Ariankuppam Inspector Kalaiselvan for allegedly assaulting Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Association president Amudharasan a few days ago. Shortly after submitting the memorandum, Mr. Narayanasamy told reporters that the party has requested the DGP to take stern action against the Inspector for “assaulting” Mr. Amudharasan, who is also a Congress worker. The former Chief Minister said the Congress worker was assaulted by the Inspector when he visited the station to enquire about a case. Speaker R. Selvam had on Wednesday charged Mr. Amudharasan of visiting the station with an intent to rescue three persons arrested by the Ariankuppam police for assaulting tourists.
