Shutters come up at openings on canal banks in R.A. Puram

The Hindu

Residents of R.A. Puram and R.K. Nagar are pleased about Public Works Department’s initiative to install gates at various openings along canal banks and stormwater drain outlets below the Mandaveli railway station. The old, broken gates in R.A. Puram have also been replaced following many complaints about dumping of garbage and public misuse. I also request the PWD and GCC to plant palm trees and create a mini-garden as this would deter misuse of the space, prevent soil erosion and help maintain groundwater levels,” said Dr. Chandrasekaran, president of R.A. Puram Residents Association. We have been requesting creation of small parks and palm trees along the canal bank beds to prevent misuse and reduce dumping.
