Steve Bannon has surrendered to begin prison sentence: CNN
Raw StorySteve Bannon has reported to prison for defying a congressional subpoena in the Jan. 6 investigation. The right-wing podcaster and former White House chief strategist was found guilty by a jury nearly two years ago of two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with the House select committee, and he has been appealing that conviction and the resulting four-month sentence ever since. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear his emergency appeal last week in his last-ditch effort to avoid reporting to the prison in Danbury, Connecticut, to begin serving his sentence by Monday's deadline. Another former Trump aide, Peter Navarro, reported to prison in March to serve his own four-month sentence for contempt of Congress after he also refused to speak to investigators in the Jan. 6 case. Bannon also faces criminal charges in New York on allegations that he defrauded donors who gave money to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
