EU may ban single-use plastics like hotel shampoos, takeaway cups & ketchup packets

NL Times

The European Union could soon ban small shampoo bottles in hotels, single-serving mayo or ketchup sachets, coffee creamer cups, and creamer in sachets. European Commissioners Frans Timmermans and Virginijus Sinkevičius made these proposals in a bill to reduce packaging waste, NOS reports. The European Commission wants to ban cafes and coffee shops from using disposable cups when customers drink their beverages on-site. Timmermans and Sinkevičius’ plans should decrease packaging waste per EU resident by 15 percent in 2040 compared to 2018.
