Tasman Bridge: 50th anniversary of official opening
ABCFifty years ago today, Hobart's Tasman Bridge was officially opened. Plans for a bridge to link Hobart's eastern and western shores across the River Derwent date back to 1832, but it was not until 1943 the first bridge was completed. Today the bridge remains one of Tasmania's most important pieces of transport infrastructure, connecting Hobart's eastern shore to the CBD.
