Detention centre fallout of Gauhati HC order, Centre has nothing to do with it: Assam minister

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the detention centre in Assam is the fallout of an order of the Gauhati High Court. "The Central government has never asked the Assam government to build a detention centre," Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Supporting and backing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Sunday remark at a rally in Ramlila Maidan in Delhi over the detention centre in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma said what the prime minister had said was correct. The union government has not set up any detention centre except the one in Assam because of a judicial order of the Gauhati High Court," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
