Governor's office used to destabilize Nabam Tuki govt: Cong

Congress on Tuesday launched a fresh offensive against the ruling BJP, charging it of abusing the Governor’s office in Arunachal Pradesh to topple Chief Minister Nabam Tuki’s government. Since Arunachal Pradesh is ruled by the Congress, the party raised a cry in both the Houses of Parliament, seeking Governor Jyoti Prashad Rajkhowa’s dismissal. The Congress leaders trooped into the well, blocking the proceedings in Rajya Sabha, for what it called BJP’s attempts “to destabilise the democratically-elected government” in Arunachal Pradesh. “It is the most undemocratic thing that had not happened even during the British period.” Outside the House, senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi cited the recent CBI raids on houses and workplaces of several leaders — from Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s — and described them as the “new ethos of cooperative federalism authored by the Prime Minister.”
