Patna: Protests greet Nitish Kumar during hospital visit
Deccan ChroniclePatna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who visited Muzaffarpur to review the situation, had to face protest by angry people amid sloganeering outside Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, where most of the children have died since the outbreak of acute encephalitis syndrome and brain fever. Sources said people raised questions involving the state government’s preparedness to tackle rising cases of encephalitis, medical team and infrastructure at the government hospital. A similar situation was “Additional team of doctors is being sent from other hospitals to assist doctors at SKMCH Muzaffarpur,” Bihar chief secretary Deepak Kumar told reporters in Patna after Mr Kumar’s visit on Tuesday. Mr Kumar during his visit also directed officials to constitute a team of experts to study the socio-economic condition of the villages where children have died due to AES and brain fever.
