CM M K Stalin Tells Cadre to Take a Vow
Deccan ChronicleChennai: Calling upon his party cadre to take a vow that they would not at any cost compromise on anything that would affect the State’s welfare and future, Chief Minister M K Stalin said the State was now facing two major problems – one, the life issue of saving Tamil language and two, the rights issue over the impending delimitation. In a message to cadre, on the eve of his 72nd birthday, he urged the party cadre to take the two pressing issues to the people and explain to them how the State’s interests would be jeopardized by the delimitation that threatened to take away the State’s self-respect, social justice and the entire gamut of welfare schemes. Giving a clarion call for a fight to retain the State’s rights on not giving up on representation in Parliament and also to stand up and protest against the imposition of Hindi in the State, he stressed on the need to enlighten the people on the nuances of the two problems that would affect their future. Since Tamil Nadu raised its voice, as the pioneering State, on the delimitation that would deprive the State of its rights in Parliament, support for the cause had come in from States like Karnataka, Punjab and Telangana, he said, adding that there was no question of allowing the delimitation to be carried out on the basis of population and by increasing the number of seats for other States.
