Despite these safety measures, another person died in 2021, and it was closed again. The Vessel rises from the ground like a stretched basket, hollow in the center with scalable staircases on the lower levels in every direction. The reopened portions of the structure allow visitors to scale the highest level at a single section at the exit of the structure's elevator, facing the tallest chrome and glass skyscrapers of Hudson Yards.
