Bengaluru MP on woman's 'strip-searched at airport’ claim: ‘frisked privately’

Hindustan Times

After a woman alleged that she was asked to take her shirt off during the security check at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport, BJP's Lok Sabha member from Bengaluru Central said on Wednesday that the claims were false. The Bengaluru airport expressed regret over the incident and assured that the issue was escalated to the security team. In a tweet, P C Mohan said, “Claims of a woman asked to remove her shirt during a security check at the Bengaluru airport are false.” The BJP leader further added that the woman “was wearing a denim jacket with badges and beadings.” Citing CISF sources, he said the woman was frisked privately in the presence of a female companion. On Tuesday, the woman, describing the incident as ‘humiliating’, questioned why the Bengaluru airport needs a woman to strip.
