Centre and Maharashtra sign MoUs to set up 5 more multi-modal logistics park
Live MintThe Modi Government and Maharashtra government on Friday signed a pact to set up five more multi-modal logistics parks in the state during a conference in the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. According to the agreement, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation will provide the land for MMLPs, and National Highways Logistics Management will provide external road connectivity to the sites, and RVNL will give external rail connectivity. NHAI chairperson Alka Upadhyay said the national road developer has set up a fully-owned special purpose vehicle the National Highways and Logistics Management to improve the logistics efficiency and manage allied highway assets of NHAI. Meanwhile, Gadkari also said the government will enable the setting up of 50-70 vehicle scrapping facilities and 75 automated testing stations over the next five years.
