Experts highlight value of intellectual property
The HinduMSME-CII-IPFC, Mysuru, in association with SJCE-STEP and JSSCMS organised World Intellectual Property Day celebrations with the theme ‘IP as a fuel for Start-ups and MSMEs’ here at SJCE on Tuesday. The audience were later introduced to the concept of celebrating ‘World IP Day’ and the organisers explained that it is celebrated on April 26 as the convention establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization came into force in 1970 on this day. Ltd., Bengaluru, spoke about creating value from IP and said, “IP takes centre stage in today’s world.” A release said that Mr. Pathak also informed the participants that the companies are choosing to cross-license their know-how and technology to develop their services and products. Nagendra Setty, managing director, Ideas Manufacturing, Mysuru, spoke about the “reality check” on IP filings and said that it is key for big corporates and for small or start-up companies, it is the viability and the timing of the technology that is more important.
