New Delhi's civic body to not impose hiked power surcharge on electricity bill
India TodayAhead of the Assembly polls in Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Council has announced to not impose the Power Purchase Adjustment Cost surcharge on domestic and commercial electricity users. The decision came amid a high-profile electoral contest on the New Delhi Assembly seat, featuring prominent candidates like former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from the Aam Aadmi Party, former Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit from the Congress, and anticipated BJP contender and ex-MP Parvesh Verma. NDMC's Chairperson Keshav Chandra, along with Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, reassured residents that there would be no hike in electricity bills, despite the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission issuing a PPAC order dated December 31, 2024.
