The Fed holds interest rates steady but cuts economic growth forecasts because of tariffs

That’s why investors will be paying much closer attention to the Fed’s so-called “dot plot,” set to be released at 2 pm ET, than the Fed’s announcement on interest rates, which also comes out then. The dot plot refers to the Fed’s Summary of Economic Projections, a quarterly forecast on the economic outlook from all 12 regional Fed bank presidents and the seven members of the Fed’s board of governors. The most recent dot plot from December’s meeting indicated the median forecast was for two rate cuts this year.
