Chase Young’s return with 49ers a reminder of all that’s gone wrong for Commanders
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Five minutes after Chase Young was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 31, his phone rang. There was a lot of excitement in those “bros” and “brahs.” GO DEEPER In Chase Young, 49ers find a Nick Bosa bookend that's been missing since 2019 “It was a shocking thing,” Bosa said. “With him being from here, he took a lot of pride in making the team good.” At one point, Chase Young looked as if he would be one of the faces of the Commanders’ franchise for years to come. “I think there are a couple of other guys who were very good at their position, but I think for what we would love to do going forward for us, I most certainly believe he was the best one.” Washington’s defensive potential seemed unlimited with Young, the fourth lineman selected in the first round of four consecutive drafts and a popular locker room figure. “Whenever somebody’s winning, the quarterback’s getting off his spot and it snowballs.” Young this week downplayed his return to Washington, saying twice that it was “just another game.” He said his parents have attended all but one of his games in San Francisco and that the thing he’s most looking forward to on his return is visiting with his dogs at his home near the Commanders’ practice facility during a free period on Saturday.
