Allegations of branch stacking and selfish MPs as the SA Liberal Party loses another by-election
ABCIn the lead-up to the Black by-election, South Australian Liberal elder Trish Worth didn't feel her party would win. Alexander Downer says the recent Black by-election loss is a "harsh warning" for the SA Liberal Party. "It is a very harsh warning to the state Liberal Party that they have to present a compelling reason to the South Australian public for why they should vote for them," he said. Mr Downer said issues like abortion are "third rail" issues and the party should instead focus on things like the cost of living, and the high cost of energy in South Australia. "That's a massive swing in any terms and it's an unambiguous message to the Liberal Party that they're not offering at the moment what the South Australian voters seem to be looking for," he said.
