Mr Snowden, 37, was granted asylum in Russia after fleeing the United States in 2013 and leaking classified documents detailing the mass surveillance programme of the country's intelligence apparatus. While Donald Trump has considered pardoning Mr Snowden, attorney general William Barr has said he is "vehemently opposed" to pardoning someone who had given classified information to America's enemies. "Of course I would like to return to the United States," Mr Snowden told CBS co-hosts Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil.
