Inside Insomnia star Vicky McClure's incredible year: From wedding and MBE, to an explosive series of Trigger Point and a harrowing new role as an insomniac

It was the role, but also Sarah’s wild imagination – I just loved it.’ Vicky stars as Emma, a successful lawyer living a seemingly perfect life in a big house with handsome husband Robert and their two children. Their mother’s creepy prediction that Emma had ‘bad blood’ and would suffer similar mental health problems – beginning with insomnia – weighs heavily on Emma’s mind, and when Phoebe and their mother suddenly reappear in her life at the same time as the insomnia, she starts to become distraught. I thought I might as well use Emma’s bedroom as my own.’ Starring in a big drama for a streaming giant is another step in Vicky’s upward trajectory, and as well as appearing in Insomnia, she also co-produced the series via the production company, BYO Films, that she runs with her husband.
