The newspaper said Mr Apter, the head of the Police Federation, which represents 130,000 rank and file officers in England and Wales, has been suspended by Hampshire Constabulary and is now the subject of a criminal investigation. A spokesperson for the Police Federation said Mr Apter had been suspended from duty by Hampshire Police whilst an investigation is undertaken.
